The Multicultural Community Centre (MCC) was established in 1989 in Chinatown, to meet the needs of Brisbane’s culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) community in Brisbane Chinatown (Fortitude Valley) and the wider Brisbane community. MCC was formally incorporated in 1996 and operates as a charitable organisation (a public benevolent institution), primarily assisting migrants, refugees, the disadvantaged, the poor and the elderly. MCC is actively involved in combating any forms of racism and acts as an advocate and liaison body where government and non-government bodies are concerned. After purchasing and renovating new larger premises, MCC is able to actively promote multiculturalism and cultural maintenance of traditions, language, and customs on a bigger scale, through Festivals, Celebrations, Expos and Conferences. MCC has become the ‘northside’ multicultural ‘hub’ of Brisbane, as it is located in 23 Foster Street, Newmarket.

Helping people is at the heart of what we do! We provide government funded programs to assist CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) people; as well as practical help, through the distribution of food parcels and other resources.

MCC’s key focus is its extensive free training and employment programs that target a range of career pathways, and Australian work experience, to help migrants integrate well into Australian society.

We give them skills to get accredited qualifications that lead to good jobs; as well as to also start up Small Businesses, thereby helping them access mainstream services provided by government and NGO agencies.

Our Aims

To assist those disadvantaged by poverty, sickness, unemployment, racial discrimination, and those who are recognizably in need of relief with practical services catering for the community’s language and cultural diversity
To feed and clothe the poor and needy
To care for and provide assistance to the elderly and disabled
To help new migrants / refugees adapt and settle down comfortably.
